CONCAWE Review • Spring 2001

As announced in the Review of November last year, I took over the responsibilities of Secretary General in CONCAWE on 1 December. First I take this opportunity to address our thanks to Jochen Brandt who retired at the end of last year. Through his long association with our organization, there is no doubt that Jochen has been one of the major contributors to its accomplishments and its image.Our industry is undergoing major restructuring and we are operating in an environment where the authorities and the public at large question the potential health and environmental impact of all our activities and products. In this challenging environment, CONCAWE’s mission of providing our stakeholders with a sound and objective scientific basis for the decisions they have to make is all the more essential.
